All the icons sold by Conestoga Icons are handmade by our family using techniques developed here in the studio. The resulting icons are beautiful, prayerfully created and durable.

The base of each is a solid wood panel that is hand carved with an “ark”. This gives the icon the best foundation possible. Onto this a museum quality cotton print is laminated and then painted using a traditional medium. Once the panel is ready, a layer of the studio’s special beeswax varnish is applied.

The result is an icon that is suitable for both domestic and liturgical use that will be treasured for generations.

Whether your icon is in stock or yet to be made, our family prepares each on demand specifically for you. Icons that are in stock are carefully packaged each week and shipped. Icons that are being made, typically take 2 to 3 weeks to create and are then shipped.

All icons are shipped from Edmonton, typically each Friday. But we sometimes extend these timelines during special promotions and the holiday season. Once it has shipped out you’ll receive a notification.

Packaging

  • We ship prints in a sturdy cardboard boxes.

Our family creates each and every icon we sell from the studio here in Edmonton, Alberta. From creating its wooden panel, to printing and laminating it, to painting and the applying the final varnish, each step is done with focus and prayer. This is in keeping with the way icons have always been created, and offers a blessing in both its composition and creation.

Colour Accuracy

All photos capture the colour and detail as accurately as possible, but there may be some colour variation between the photo and the actual icon or painting.
