Starting in 2020, with fears of Covid making community gatherings illegal and forcing the closure of churches even as Easter approached, the studio felt a deep need to serve those suffering alone or struggling to pray at home as families. Working with a generous patron, we printed two sets of icon postcards and freely distributed them to 28 churches, monasteries, and institutions across Canada and the US.
By providing these “icon cards” to local Catholic, Orthodox, and Anglican priests, monks, and administrators across North America, we ended up in places we never planned, from children’s bedrooms to palliative care wards. The response to this exercise of “casting our bread upon the waters” ended up reaping stories and notes of thanks, from people we’d never met before, convincing us that this work was worth continuing.
And so the Everywhere Present Project was begun. Now in its second year, the studio continues to partner with supporters to print icon cards from the studio’s catalogue and make them freely available to a growing list of churches and institutions. The project aims to send out icon cards twice a year, once during the Lenten/Easter season and once during the Christmas/Epiphany season.
This year, working with two Canadian prairie churches, icon cards of Christ the King of Glory were printed and disturbed in time for Lent, and we hope to send out images of The Nativity of our Lord in time for Advent.
Sign up your church, monastery, or religious institution to receive icon cards when they are shipped en masse.
Request a set of icon cards for your institution by getting in touch with the studio. When available, these will be freely shipped in groups of 50 with postage extra.
While still new, the response to the project has been tremendous. So far, the project has seen the following distributed:
|Feast of Christ the King, 2020||Christ the Almighty & Mary the Guide||28||Anonymous donor|
|Lent 2021||Christ the King of Glory||33|
St. Mary the Virgin (Regina)
St. Aidan’s (Moose Jaw)
Please consider partnering with the studio by financially supporting a new set of icon cards. These will then be sent to waiting institutions across the US and Canada. To find out more, contact the studio.
